Boundary Awareness Training October 9-10 2012 8:45AM– 3:30PM
First Congregational Church of Lee
25 Park Place
Lee MA
If you are not new to the Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire, or Franklin Associations, you should have already fulfilled the Boundary Awareness Training requirement. If, however, you have begun your present authorized ministry within the past year and have not yet participated in this basic program, you have one year from the start of your ministry to do so. The above scheduled program will be the only such offering in the West in 2012. There will be offerings at various times throughout the year in other regions of the conference that you may register for if this date does not work. Please check their websites for dates that fit within your one year time frame.
We have intentionally called this awareness training not simply boundary training. The goal is not to be taught some set of rules or expectations, but to be exposed to the ideas and concepts around the topic of appropriate relational boundaries within ministry. This is only a beginning of education and dialogue toward healthy ministerial relationships and self-care. We are seeking to promote a continued dialogue with ongoing opportunities to discuss the hard and gray areas that make up so much of the space within our profession.
The leaders of each session are not experts on the subject – they are colleagues who have spent time with the material and have created a structure to hold this conversation. In this process we covenant together as authorized ministers to help and support one another, each of us knowing that when we are in isolation we are at our most vulnerable place. We recognize that the resources for active, healthy and fruitful conversation are in the room. Over the two days of the session we will help each other raise awareness and engage one another in this broad and complicated realm known as Boundary Awareness Training.
