Annual Meeting: Part 2by Marlene Gasdia-Cochrane December 2007 / January 2008
The Massachusetts Conference 208th Annual Meeting - Part 2 brought over 500 attendees together – most for the second time this year – to participate in workshops, worship, and voting, and to celebrate Jim Antal’s installation as Conference Minister and President. The Meeting took place at the DCU Center in Worcester, and spread to the Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Wesley United Methodist Church for workshops and worship. In addition, UCC General Minister and President John Thomas attended the plenary session as an honorary delegate and preached at Antal’s installation service. Annual Meeting affirmed the proposal from the Board of Directors titled “A Still More Excellent Way” (see Board notes). The Guidelines for Clergy Compensation were adopted. Nine 50-year ordinands were honored. Almost 30 different workshops were conducted. And keynote speaker, Lillian Daniel entertained and inspired the crowd on the topic of hospitality.
