Massachusetts Conference Partners with
Good Shepherd UCC in Metairie, Louisiana, to do relief work in Louisiana
Good Shepherd, UCC, one of the UCC churches in greater New Orleans, has committed itself to become a base from which they and we can reach out to churches and individuals as they struggle to rebuild.
The Massachusetts Conference UCC has committed to seeking out partnerships within our congregations for Good Shepherd UCC. We hope your local church will chose to join us as a partner.
The efforts to rebuild are a marathon, not a sprint... please join us.

Prayer from Gary Arndt on the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina
August 29. 2007
Gracious God we often are startled by the way life unfolds. We rejoice in the good, but often lament the bad. Surprisingly, it can be the challenging parts of life which draw us closer to Your Power. Katrina turned so many lives upside down. What was no longer existed. This happened in the twinkling of an eye. You though have the ability to bring life out of death. A Church in New Orleans called the Good Shepherd prayed for a partner to join them in recovery. The Massachusetts Conference heard the prayer and said, "Here am I Lord send me!" People who felt alone now knew they had friends in Massachusetts. Children and schools struggling to reopen received books, teddy bears and visiting teachers. The broken were made whole and Your Hope was restored. As we look at a number of years of repair for lives and homes we are not afraid. You are with us and we know You are Good all the time. Amen. |
