Purpose: This job description details the responsibilities of the Director of Christian Education at the Village Congregational Church. The primary role of the position is to coordinate spiritual education through the Sunday School program by exploring, creating and implementing programs of learning and study. Schedule: The Director of Christian Education will have a Regular and Summer work schedule as follows: a 10-month, Mid-August through Mid-June Regular schedule, working 10-15 hours weekly. The Director will follow a 2-month, Mid-June through Mid-August Summer schedule, working 6 hours weekly. This yearly work schedule is based on an enrollment of 85 students. Half of the hours should be scheduled to coincide with open office hours for coordinating with the minister and church secretary. The remainder should be at the discretion of the CE Director.The creation and implementation of programs for the Sunday School at the VCC, along with day-to-day interactions and operation will make up the bulk of the Regular work schedule. Researching new curriculum, recruiting teachers, analyzing and determining class sizes, placement and class location will be largely performed during the Summer work schedule.

WESTFORD, First Parish Church United is seeking a Director of Religious Education.
Ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, flexible and have good communication skills. Individual must enjoy working with children and be open to religious diversity. Responsibilities include classroom prep, curriculum familiarity, assisting teachers, coordination of field trips, purchasing supplies; administration duties such as registration, file coordination, mailings, leading parent (teacher) meetings and special projects. Individual must also attend monthly RE committee meetings. This position requires candidate to work from mid August until June, 12 hours per week and must be available on Sundays. This individual will be responsible for shaping and running youth groups for middle and high school students, in conjunction with the Christian Education Commission and the Pastor. CHURCH SCHOOL COORDINATOR.
We are a friendly and lively congregation of about 350 people – 125 of whom are children. We seek someone with some experience in church school (volunteer experience is REAL experience!) and a clear and strong faith. The church school coordinator will administrate FCC’s existing Church School children’s education program, pre-school through elementary school grades, for a minimum term of one school year beginning late August 2009 through early June 2010. Specific Responsibilities:
- recruit and support volunteer teachers from the congregation
- plan and preside at teacher meetings
- meet new students and assign them to the correct classes
- keep accurate records of all aspects of the church school program, including registration, maintenance of the church school database and class lists, supplies and expenses
- arrive early for church school sessions (most Sunday mornings from September through June, during the 10:00 a.m. worship service) to ensure classrooms are in order and teachers, supplies and equipment are ready.
- Coordinate the child care provided in the church nursery for Sunday morning worship and before and after church events and supervise paid and volunteer staff working in the nursery.
- Purchase and maintain supplies for church school and the snack closet
- order, distribute, evaluate and encourage effective use of curriculum materials, equipment and general supplies
- meet monthly with the Youth Christian Education Commission
- work with the pastor and the Youth Christian Education Commission to evaluate programs and adapt to changing needs
- plan and lead special church school programs as needed
- keep the congregation informed about what is happening in the church school by monthly contributions to the Spire, church newsletter
- work to involve the church school in the total life of the church
- ensure that the church school operates under the UCC’s safe church policy guidelines, including the completion of CORI review applications for all teachers and parent volunteers
Time requirements: 15-18 per week
Supervised by the Pastor and the Youth Christian Education Commission
Salary is in the Mass. Conf. recommended guidelines, no benefits

HCC will be in need of an interim part-time Christian Educator to fill the needs outlined below during the 2009-2010 school year. If possible we would like the individual to start in early August.
This is a part-time position which could possibly become full-time in a year. The position could possibly become a job-share with two or more persons.
Specific Responsibilities:
Plan and teach a two year Confirmation program for 8th and 9th graders.
Plan and teach an adult weekly Bible Study/Faith Development class; topics are chosen by the group months in advance.
Act as resource and contact person for our Church School Coordinator and Assistant Church School Coordinator.
Act as resource and contact person for lay adult group leaders for our Middle School Youth Group, Senior High Youth group and Workcamp (mission trip).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: On an ongoing basis, identify the current needs of youth of the congregation and of the local area, and match those needs with potential service and fellowship opportunities. This ongoing task will be aided by members of the congregation cluster, other interested members of the church and, potentially, representatives of other area service organizations.Coordinate and lead volunteer youth group leaders. Plan, publicize, and lead regular programs for youth, including youth groups, youth retreats, and youth community service. Foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
